Many LGBT youth can't picture what their
lives might be like as openly gay adults.
They can't imagine a future for themselves.
Let's show them what our lives are like,
Let's show them what the future may hold in store for them.
IT GETS BETTER CANADA!
As much as our modern society has made it easier than ever to be yourself, LGBT people still experience fear and pressure as they learn to accept their sexuality. There is resources, hope, and a supporting community out there.
People's minds will change!
Dan Savage has created a wonderful website where people can share their stories about being young and gay, coming out, and how their life has changed since -
The "It Gets Better Project".
"When a gay teenager commits suicide, it's because he can't picture a life for himself that's filled with joy and family and pleasure and is worth sticking around for. So I felt it was really important that, as gay adults, we show them that our lives are good and happy and healthy and that there's a life worth sticking around for after high school."   --Dan Savage
Dan and his husband created the first ever "It Gets Better" video, which can be seen first on the right of this page.
Following that, Ellen DeGeneres made a huge effort on her show to bring light to this issue, and has had numerous gay youth as guests to talk about their experiences.
Second video, right
This issue, of course, affects all of us in Canada as well, and it wasn't long before Canadians of all stripes created videos of their own - from politicians, to celebrities big and small.
Third video, right
After a few short months, It Gets Better has become an important worldwide movement and helped countless people.
Here, in particular, are twelve must see videos.
Please explore the many exceptional videos presented here, and on the main It Gets Better site.
